The City of Chico warming/cooling center is currently closed. When open, the center is located at the Jesus Center, the City’s non-profit partner.
The Jesus Center is located at 1297 Park Avenue.
Significant rain and higher than average winds can trigger warming center activation when 1) temperature is predicted to fall below 32 degrees Fahrenheit at some point for 1 day or 2) temperature is predicted to be at or below 45oF and precipitation of ¾ inches or more are expected or 3) temperate is predicted to be at or below 40oF and average wind speeds are at or above 15 miles per hour.
For cooling center operations, activation occurs when temperature rises above 100 degrees for two or more consecutive days.
